Give Value to Get Value

A friend of mine was asked to pay $100 before she could view the prices of wedding gowns on a website!

She is getting married soon so she wanted to get an estimate to plan with. She got to this website and they asked her to pay before she could see how much the gowns cost!!🤯 🤯

When I heard it, I couldn’t believe that a business would be asking a potential customer to pay money (value) without adding value to them first.

The best way to get value is by first adding value to others – genuinely adding value to them, without any strings attached.

This is true in business but also true in career. For example:

If you’re interviewing for a job, add value to the company hiring you by sharing practical ideas and solutions that can help move them forward, even before you’re hired.

If you’re part of a team, add value to your colleagues by offering tools, techniques and tips that can help them get their jobs done faster and smoother.

If you’re a team member, add value to your boss by offering to help them solve work challenges not directly linked to your role, but you have the skills to help with.

If you’re a team leader, add value to your team member by guiding them on how to leverage their strengths and by channelling the right opportunities to them.

Now I know for many who have tried to add value to others, you may have been discouraged because they did not reciprocate.

The sad truth is that people you add value to may not add value back to you.

But that’s okay.  You just focus on genuinely adding value to others.

You may not reap WHERE you sow, but you’ll definitely reap WHAT you sow.
