When I Struggled with my Goals
When I Struggled with my Goals
I had a goal for carbs to be less than 25% of my daily food portions this year.
At the end of Q1, my average was in the range of 60%. This was more than double my desired goal – not good!
A result like this is enough to make me feel discouraged and give up on this goal altogether.
However, two things are keeping me going:
– In the same period this year, I have achieved my exercise goals – yay!
– My current carb consumption is lower than what it was this time last year
If I allow the slow progress with the carbs to discourage me, I am more likely to start losing steam on the exercises as well.
Instead, I am using the success from the exercises and my year on year carb consumption to keep me motivated to achieve my goal in the other areas.
This is how you build momentum for any goal or target. By starting with what you are doing well and using the motivation from that to tackle the other areas.
If you want to increase your chances for success this year, identify the things you’re doing well and use them to build and sustain momentum.
Resist the temptation to start with what you’re not doing well!
